The witness, a retired British expat who wishes to remain anonymous, claims the encounter happened just months ago in a small fishing town hundreds of miles from Portugal’s Algarve coast — the very region where Madeleine disappeared in 2007.

According to his account, he stopped at a seaside café and struck up a conversation with a young woman in her late teens or early twenties. She spoke with a soft but clear British accent and seemed nervous, avoiding eye contact. What caught his attention, however, was a small, faded bracelet on her wrist — nearly identical to the one Madeleine was famously photographed wearing as a child.

“She kept glancing over her shoulder, like she was afraid someone was watching,” the witness told reporters. “When I asked where she was from, she hesitated… then said she didn’t remember much of her early childhood.”
