Twenty minutes ago, amidst rising floodwaters and chaos, a heart-wrenching act of bravery unfolded in a quiet neighborhood now submerged beneath muddy currents.
As part of an emergency evacuation effort following severe flash flooding, a rescue team was dispatched to assist residents trapped in their homes. Among those in danger was a 90-year-old woman, stranded alone in her house as water levels rapidly rose. Time was running out.
When rescue boats couldn’t reach the narrow alley leading to her residence, the team leader made a critical decision: he sent in Max, a trained K9 rescue dog. Without hesitation, Max entered the flooded home through a partially open door, navigating debris and waist-high water.
Inside, the elderly woman had collapsed from exhaustion. Max approached her and gently lay down beside her, offering his harness for her to grip. With immense effort, the woman clung to Max, and together they began the slow journey out of the house.
