Local authorities are still reeling after a police dog uncovered a secret room buried behind the walls of an old nursing home, revealing long-lost evidence connected to a cold case that had baffled investigators for over a decade.

Routine Training Turns Into a Shocking Discovery

The discovery was made at the Rosewood Pines Nursing Home, a facility that has been in operation since the 1970s. Officers had been conducting scent training exercises with Max, a 4-year-old German Shepherd K9, known for his sharp instincts and keen nose. The facility had agreed to participate in a community outreach and training session with the local police department.

However, things quickly took an unexpected turn.

“Max began acting strangely near the east wing of the building, which had been closed off since 2013 due to structural damage,” said Officer Rachel Kim, Max’s handler. “He kept barking and scratching at a section of the wall that looked like it had been patched over years ago.”
